Many Kiwi businesses are already seeing the benefits of being switched on to contactless payments.
A recent Mastercard survey of over 1,000 New Zealand consumers found 73% of Kiwis are using contactless payments, and 63% are using contactless at least once a week.
Users say contactless payments are convenient and easy (73%) and save time (73%). If more widely available, New Zealanders are keen to use contactless payments at retail shops (25%), petrol stations (18%) and cafes/coffee shops (17%).
Mastercard research found more than 50% of bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants accept contactless payments, but half of Kiwi businesses are lagging in acceptance.
