Mental health is increasingly important, and it’s a good idea to make sure you are looking after your peoples wellbeing, as well as your own.
We’ve launched an e-learning module and a guide on helping manage mental health. Both are completely FREE for Retail NZ members, so check them out.
Don’t forget too, that a Retail NZ membership gives you discounted access to Workplace Support, for when you or your employees need someone to talk to.
Guide on helping manage employees’ mental health
We have prepared this guide to help retailers and other employers manage sometimes difficult conversations and to help maintain employees wellbeing.
The events of the COVID-19 pandemic have been difficult for many people, and we hope that this guide will help all members, and others in the business community.
Care for your own mental health and wellbeing, as well as that of your team members.
If this is a challenging time for you or your team, our friends at Workplace Support can provide counselling, at a special Retail NZ member rate.

– how to start and continue a mental health conversation, be supportive and acknowledge, validate and normalise the chat.
– what to do if you are concerned for someone’s safety, and the boundaries to consider.
– how to accommodate those with mental distress and plan to find solutions together.
The e-learning courses are available in English, te reo Māori, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean and Hindi.
Websites like the Mental Health Foundation and Wellplace have a range of tips and worksheets for businesses too. Some help you identify what you need to stay well, others focus more on supporting employees.
