Retail NZ encourages Wellingtonians’ compliance during Alert Level 2

23 June 2021.

With the Government’s announcement of Wellington entering Alert Level 2 for the next four days, Retail NZ is encouraging compliance and for Wellingtonians to shop local.

Greg Harford, Retail NZ Chief Executive says “Even Alert Level 2 has an economic impact on retailers. Retailers across Wellington remain open with added social distancing measures.”

“We are encouraging Wellingtonians to continue supporting their local retail sector at this time. Measures are in place to ensure customers and retail staff safety – utilise QR codes on display at retailers, shop locally, and utilise click and collect options.”

“The Wellington region must take the current precautions put in place for Alert Level 2 seriously and remain compliant – so the retail sector is not significantly impacted further. Let’s get back to Alert Level 1 swiftly.”

At Alert Level 2, retail stories can remain open and will be maintaining social distancing in store. We recommend that all retailers have the official COVID-19 Tracer App QR Code on display for customers and staff.
