If your employee’s performance hasn’t improved with informal feedback, you can use this template to invite them to a formal meeting to propose implementing a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Updated August 2025.

A PIP is a formal process, and therefore is subject to fair process requirements under New Zealand legislation.
